Staubmaske

The purpose of this respirator is to protect the respiratory system against dust.

The face fitting rubber band has the following manufacturer's name on the bottom: "Dräger".

The respirator consists of the following main parts:

1. Head harness

2. Face fitting rubber band

3. Metal facepiece

4. Outlet valve

5. Inlet valve

6. Canister

The head harness is fastend to both sides of the metal facepiece by means of black me-tal tabs secured with rivets. The parts of the headharness adjacted to the facepiece on both sides consist of fabric covered coiled springs and then there follows a short adjust-able band on both sides. A double black band is attached to these latter adjustable bands by means of two metal loops; these black bands fit over the back of the head.

The face fitting rubber band fits over the nose and mouth and is stretched a bit to fit on the metal facepiece. It is made of green synthetic rubber.

The metal facepiece consists of a shallow sheet iron cup painted grayish green. The canister is attached to the facepiece by means of two rivets, one on each side of the connecting opening which is covered by the rubber inlet valve. The inlet valve consists of a rubber disc slipping over the knob in the center of the opening. The outlet valve seat is crimped to the lower right side of the face-piece and the valve guard screws on the seat to hold the rubber outlet valve in place. The valve guard is made of gray pain-ted metal.

The canister cover (A), with a diameter of 4 inches, is internally threaded to fit on the externally threaded canister. The bottom of the canister cover is perforated with 0.1 inch holes; a wire screen fits on the inside and presses the cotton pad (B) against the metal disc supporting the mechanical filter (C). The latter consists of concentric folds of asbestos bearing paper 1.1 inches high and leaving a cup in the center of 1.2 inches dia-meter. The outer-most fold of the paper is glued to the perforated metal disc which has a lip that fits against the edges of the canister and holds the filter in place.
