Staubmaske

The purpose of this respirator is to protect the respiratory system against dust.

The face fitting rubber band has the Auer trademark on the bottom and also the num-ber 2600. The top paper filter disc in the canister is marked: "Auer - Kollix - Staubmas-ken".

The respirator consists of the following main parts:

1. Head harness

2. Face fitting rubber band

3. Metal facepiece

4. Inlet valve

5. Outlet valve

6. Canister

The head harness consists of green rubber straps fastened to metal loops which in turn are riveted to the facepiece. The face fitting band is made of green rubber and fits over the edge of the facepiece; when placed against the face, it covers the nose, mouth and chin.

The facepiece and canister are made of aluminum alloy and are crimped together around a 1.4 inch opening which connects them. On the inside of the face-piece, the thin rubber disc inlet valve covers this opening. The disc is 1.5 inches in diameter and has a hole in its center for fitting it over the knob in the center of the valve opening. Just below the inlet valve is the opening for the outlet valve which is made of green rub-ber and belonge to the flutter type; the rubber valve is cemented to the opening. The part of the canister crimped to the facepiece is actually the canister top. It is internally threaded to fit the canister body (A) ????? is 3.4 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches long. The bottom of the canister body is perforated with 0.1 inch holes. Two wire gauzes are forced into the bot-tom of the canister body with a thin cotton pad between them (not showing in drawing). A wire spring retainer holds the gauzes in place. Next in the canister is the accordian type paper filter (B), five sections, each 2.9 inches in diameter and bound by outer aluminum crimping rings. The sections have a hole down the center, 0.7 inches in diameter and the sections are thereby crimped together with metal rings about these central holes. The bottom side of the first section does not have any hole; and the crimping ring on the outside of the top section its fastened on another paper disc 3.3 inches in diameter. This paper disc fits against the cover of the canister when it is as-sembled. All the paper of the filter is a heavy type, slightly yellow in color.
