The gaiters are used to protect the horse's legs against vesicant gases.

There are no markings of identification value.

These gaiters are made from the same material as the Gaiters, Horse, 41, namely, gray colored rayon, rubberized on the outside only.

The gaiter is fixed at the top and bottom by belts and a garter-like supporting device which is pulled tight by a wooden toggle above the knee of hock.

There are 4 gaiters to a set and are made in only one size.

There are several modifications of the outer coating on the rayon, varying in the ty-pes and colors of the rubber.
