Feuchte Pferdemaske

This mask given the horse respiratory protection against chemical warfare gases.

The mask has no markings of identification value.

The mask consists of a double bag, one inside the other, the outer one being made of a heavy white cloth. The top of the bag is trimmed with the nose-fitting stuffed gray cloth ring. This rings can be pulled tight on the horse's nose by means of a rope and two metal loops on the "bite-side" of the bag. The bag has a maximum cross-section of 6.5 inches and a maximum depth of 14 inches and fits over the upper jaw and into the horse's mouth. The side of the bag that fits into the horse's mouth is reinforced with leather and two metal bitings strips. The top of the bag is fitted with four attachment straps. The bag is soaked in a solution of "Tranksalz" prior to use.
