Behälter für Kampfstoffproben

The purpose of this kit is to collect samples of gas or contaminated materials for labo-ratory analysis.

The wooden kit is marked: "Kampfstoffproben"; the metal kit is marked: "Behälter für Kampfstoffproben".

The metal kit carrying case, painted dark green is sturdily constructed of sheet metal, 0.05 inch thick. The overall dimensions are 10.8 x 6.5 x 4.3 inches. The contents consist of 6 cardboard containers, each inside a metal cylinder, a small scoop, a short pair of tongs and a pair of cutting pliers. Of the six cardboard containers (glass in later models), two contain glass wool and are marked with a red ring; these are specially intended for taking samples of liquid gases. Samples of contaminated soil or other material are fitted into one or more of the containers by using the scoop and tongs. The pliers are for cut-ting objects too large to be put whole into a container. Where a considerable amount of liquid gas is found, the sample is taken by daubing with glass wool or by dipping the glass wool into it. The kit also contains a special report pad.

The wooden model is approximately the same size as the above metal model and has the same contents.

The civilian version of this item contains 4 ground glass stoppered bottles, tongs, spoons, and cotton and is marked: "Gasspürgeräte".

The above-mentioned containers for the gas samples are often found loose, without the Sample Collecting Kit.
