| PURPOSE: |
|
The purpose of the canister is to filter smoke from the air drawn into a collective pro-tector installation; it is used in conjunction with a gas absorbing canister. |

| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The canister is a short cylinder with slightly convex bottom and top and is painted dark green. The overall diameter is 16.6 inches and the overall height is 6.8 inches, which includes the two necks, each 1.1 inches long, the top a male thread, 3 inches in diameter, and the bottom, a female thread, 3.2 inches in diameter. Both necks have screw caps to close them when the canister is not in use. The total weight of the canis-ter is 17.5 pounds. |

The mechanical filter consists of two asbestos paper pads separated by a wire gauze; the upper pad is 0.8 inches thick and the bottom, 1.3 inches thick. The capacity of the canister is 1.2 cubic meters of air per minute. |
