| PURPOSE: |
|
The purpose of the canister is to filter smoke from the air drawn into a collective pro-tector installation; it is used in conjunction with a gas absorbing canister. |

| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The canister is a short cylinder with slightly convex bottom and top and is painted dark green. The overall diameter is 12 inches and the overall height is 6.7 inches; the canister weighs 6.8 pounds. The top neck has a male thread and is 3.0 inches in diame-ter and the bottom neck has a female thread and is 3.2 inches in diameter. Both necks have screw caps to close them when the canister is not in use. |

The mechanical filter consists of a circular asbestos paper pad held in position bet-ween two wire gauzes; the pad is 1.7 inches thick. The capacity of the canister is 0.6 cubic meters of air per minute. |
