G 2,4

The purpose of this canister is to filter toxic gases from the air drawn into collective protector installations; it is used in conjunction with a smoke filtering canister.

The side of the canister is marked in white: "G 2,4". On Auer made canisters, the marking frequently omits the comma between the "2" and the "4".

The canister is a short cylinder with slightly convex bottom and top; it is painted dark green. The overall diameter is 23.3 inches and the overall height, 11 inches, which inclu-de the two screw necks, both male threads, 4.3 inches in diameter. Both necks have screw caps to close them when the canister is not in use.

The canister has two layers of charcoal separated by a fiber gauze; the upper layer is 3.1 inches thick and the bottom, 2.3 inches thick. The capacity of the canister is 2.4 cubic meters of air per minute.
