| PURPOSE: |
|
The purpose of this canister is to filter toxic gases from the air drawn into collective protector installations; it is used in conjunction with a smoke filtering canister. |

| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The canister is a short cylinder with slightly convex bottom and top and weighs 34.3 pounds; it is painted dark green. The overall diameter is 16.6 inches and the overall height, 10.6 inches, which includes the two necks, both male threads, 3 inches in dia-meter. Both necks have screw caps to close them when the canister is not in use. |

The canister has two layers of charcoal separated by a fiber gauze; the upper layer is 2.8 inches thick and the bottom, 2.7 inches thick. The capacity of the canister is 1.2 cubic meters of air per minute. |
