Gasplane (Oppanol) |
PURPOSE: |
These sheets have uses similar to those of the paper type (III–F–18) and in addition, being made of a stronger material, they can be used as a "???läufer" (anti-gas pathway material). |
MARKINGS: |
The outside corner of the folded sheet is stamped "80 Op/Ark"; this marking is found only on the gray colored sheets. The tan colored sheets are marked "80 Op (Tp/Ark)". |
DESCRIPTION: |
This sheet exists in two types: the tan colored for tropical issue and the gray type for temperate zones; both are similar in weigth and construction. They consist of viacose cloth sheets measuring 79 x 47 inches and coated with oppanol rubber. Both types are colored white on one side, the variation in color being only on the other side. These sheets are folded like the paper type in 80 squares and form a slightly larger bundle weighing 1.3 pounds. The sheet is carried in a pouch which fits over a strap worn across the chest. |
