SHEET, GAS, PAPER
Gasplane (Papier)

PURPOSE:

These paper sheets have multitudinous uses as anti-gas sheets; the original purpose was an anti-gas sheets but they can also be used as gas capes by cutting a hole in the center for fitting over the head.

MARKINGS:

The sheets do not have any identification markings.

DESCRIPTION:

These sheets exist in three types: the crepe, the wax, and the parchment, all three having the same dimensions, 79 x 47 inches and folding into 80 spuares. The crepe sheet is crinkled, dyed green or black and coated with a waxy material. Its corners are reinfor-ced by white paper tabs glued over string and is similar in this respect to the parchment type. This latter type is oily to the touch and tan colored, being made of Kraft paper. The wax type is pea green in color and consists of stiff way coated paper which creases very easily. All three types of these paper sheets have the two long edges reinforced by a length of twine.

The sheet is carried in a pouch which fits over a strap worn across the chest.
