PURPOSE:

The purpose of these boots is to serve as the anti-gas foot and leg protection part of the "Light Protective Clothing 37" and "39", worn by gas scouts on a gas reconnaisance mission.

MARKINGS:

No markings and identification value are present.

DESCRIPTION:

The upper section of the boots consists of a light gray closely woven cloth, coated on the inside with oppanol rubber. The front top of each upper has two metal eyelets through which an 0.8 inch cloth tape is passed; the tape is 4.3 feet long and its ends are tied about wooden beads to prevent the tape from slipping out of the eyelets. A heavy rubber slipper is sewed to the uppers to complete the boot.

The slipper consists of two parts, the bottom and the low sides, the latter being vul-canised to the outer sole. The upper part of the boot is then sewed to the low sides of the slipper.

At the rear bottom of the upper, just above the sides of the slipper, there is attached a cloth loop through which a 11.2 foot tape is passed. The maximum length of the boots is 2.8 feet.
