The purpose of the coverall is to serve as the anti-gas pants and bib when the "Light Protective Clothing 39" is worn. When modified, the coverall is also used as anti-gas pro-tection for the back.

No markings and identification value are present.

The coverall consists of a pair of shorts with draw tapes around the waist and the bottoms of the legs, and a bib sewed to the front side of the shorts. The bib also has tapes attached to the top, to be fastened about the neck. The waist of the shorts is 61 inches and the length from the waist to the bottom of the legs is 25 inches; the length from the crotch to the bottom of the legs is 11 inches. Some models of the coveralls do not include the bib and consist only of the shorts.

The fabric of the coveralls is al light gray cloth, closely woven and lined on the inside with rubber.

When the user deems it necessary, be may cut a slit in the crotch of an extra cover-all to make an opening for his neck and then slip the garment over his head using the legs for sleeves; the bib is tucked into the back of the first coverall which is being worn as such. This scheme provides more complete protection for the user's back.
