| PURPOSE: |

The purpose of this cartridge is to absorb the carbon dioxide in the "Gegenlunge" oxy-gen breathing apparatus. |
| MARKINGS: |
|
A wide pale blue paper band is painted around the cartridge with the following identi-fication markings: "Alkali-Patrone "L46" 8 x 16 x 13". |
| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The cartridge is unpainted Draeger model, made of a sheet metal, oval in shape, 6.4 x 3.1 inches and 5.1 inches long. The contents of the cartridge is chiefly sodium hydroxine and it is to be used only once for not more than one hour. |
|
The two ends of the cartridge have externally threaded openings which are closed by metal caps, the two of which are tied together by a piece of blue string. |
