The purpose of this cartridge is to absorb carbon dioxide in the Draeger oxygen breathing apparatus, "Heeresatmer".

A white band of paper is pasted around the cartridge and contains the following iden-tification markings: "Alkalipatrone 7 x 14, Länge 24 cm. für Heeresatmer". The can is em-bossed with the following: "7 x 14 Model 1924"

The cartridge is an unpainted Draeger model, made of steel metal, oval in shape, 5.5 x 2.75 inches, and 8.25 inches long. It fits the Draeger oxygen breather apparatus (HA) but may be replaced by an Auer model of the same dimensions, orobably painted green and with the manufacturer's marking "L46". The contents of the cartridge is chiefly sodi-um hydroxide and can be used for one hour, as indicated on the markings.

The two ends of the cartridge are similar and likewise the openings. The latter con-sists of holes 1.5 inches in diameter and with beveled brass edges. A brass bar runs dia-metrically across the opening with a threaded hole at the center of the latter. These threaded holes in the cross bars.

The contents of the canister is chiefly sodium hydroxide.
