| PURPOSE: |

The purpose of the carrier is to provide an individual container for the assembled "S" gas mask and accessory equipment. |
| MARKINGS: |

Some of the carriers are stamped on the cover with the "AUER" trademark. There are no identifying markings present. |
| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The carrier is a green painted, ribbed, sheet metal cylinder, measuring 10.1 inches in overall height and 4.7 inches in diameter. There is a rectangular compartment under the cover for anti-dim discs, and an eyepiece cleaning cloth with a wire spring holder at the base. The hinged cover, which is 1.7 inches deep, is locked by a snap spring catch. On the outside of the carrier are either three or four metal loops soldered to the sides; the top two or three taking the web carrying strap, and the bottom loop the webbing and clasp attachment for fastening the carrier to the wearer's belt. |
