The purpose of this canister is to provide civilians with respiratory protection against carbon monoxide. It is designed for use with the standard German face-piece and con-necting hose.

The front of the canister has the following markings in black: "Dega-CO-Büchse" and "Schützt gegen Kohlenoxyd". The white gummed label on the rear is marked: "Degea-CO-Büchse Nr."

The canister is gray painted, ribbed sheet metal model of the box type. The elliptical cross section measures 6.4 x 3.4 inches and the height is 10 inches; the bottom is coun-tersunk 0.6 inches. The outlet neck extends 1.2 inches from the top of the canister and is fitted with a metal screw cap. The outlet valve is the thin rubber disc type and is lo-cated at the base of the outlet neck. The inlet at the bottom of the canister is also clo-sed with a metal screw cap.

The filling is similar to that of the COFB 38 and the Auer-CO-Filter models and the la-bel on the rear likewise warns that the canister is not to be used after the odor of ace-tylene is noticeable.
