This item is the modification of the obsolete hydrogen flame ejector mechanism for the flamethrower fuel pack 41. In the obsolete model, the hydrogen cylinder was part of the pack; in this model it is part of the projector.

The nameplate on the hydrogen cylinder has the marking: "Wasserstoff".

The projector and the hydrogen cylinder are painted sand brown. The projector has an overall length of 31.2 inches and the diameter of the dust casing is 1.5 inches. The hydrogen cylinder, 1.5 inches in diameter and 16.4 inches long, is hocked to the projec-tor case at the front end and is connected through a hand-wheel screw valve to the hy-drogen inlet of the projector tube. The main valve on the hydrogen cylinder is at this end of the cylinder, on the side opposite the projector casing.

The inner projector tube has a holder for two batteries (each 4 inches long and 0.5 inches in diameter) which serve as the source of electricity for the hot spot ignition wi-res in the forward end of the ejector. The trigger handle which is at the rear of the pro-jector, lies flat when not in use and is held in the close position by a rigid spring. When pulled back under tension, the trigger operates the hydrogen flow, the fuel flow and the ignition system; when released, it shuts off the hydrogen and fuel and breaks the ignition circuit. The operation may be repeated until the range falls off.

The casing of the projector may be removed very easily for maintenance purposes by pressing the button near the hydrogen inlet tube; the hydrogen cylinder does not have to be detached first. The thread on the trigger end of the projector fits the hose of the Portable Flamethrower Fuel Pack 41, item I–P–1.
