By means of this signal a message may be dropped from an aircraft and easily spotted when it lands. |

The paper label on the red container is marked with directions for use and the name: "Meldebüchse (Land)". |
| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The container is an aluminum cylinder 24.5 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. The message end of the cylinder has an aluminum cap which is fastened on the inside with a short chain. The smoke end of the cylinder has a pull igniter. The message is written on a piece of paper and inserted into the hollow end of the cylinder and the cap secured; the igniter is then pulled and the signal dropped. The yellow smoke is emitted for 2.5 mi-nutes. |
