This colored signal can be held in the hand and used for indicating the location of par-ties in distress.

The red cylindrical container is marked: "Rauchnotzeichen Rot K" or "Rauchnotzeichen Rot G".

The "G" model is a red lacquered aluminum cylinder 3.3 inches in diameter and 8.1 in-ches long. The top is fitted with a pull igniter and the bottom with a pair of wire folding handles. The cylinder evelves a red cloud of smoke for two minutes.

The "K" model is similar to the "G" except that it is smaller, measuring 1.8 inches in diameter and 3.8 inches long and burns for 45 seconds.

There is also a yellow distress smoke signal consisting of a yellow lacquered aluminum cylinder 1.8 inches in diameter and 12.5 inches long. One end is fitted with two folding wire handles. The slip-on cover on the other end protects the pull igniter which is enca-sed in a rubber bulb. Pulling the igniter initiates the signal and produces a yellow smoke for two minutes.

The yellow signal container has no identification markings other than its color.
