IGNITER, SMOKE POT

These igniters are of two types, mechanical and electrical, and serve to initiate screening smoke pots.

There are no markings of identification value.

The "KL 42" type igniter fits only the Smoke Pot NbKL 42, item I–K–4, and is construc-ted of thin sheet aluminum. It measures 1.6 inches in length and 0.6 inches in diameter. The five perforations in the top admit the flash from the pull igniter. This type is known as "Zündladung Nebel 21 (Zdlg. Nb 21)"; the elctrical type is known as a "Glühzünder".

The electrical igniter exists in two forms: the instantaneous form, "Glühzünder 28", and the delay form "Glühzünder mit Verzögerung". They are made of thin aluminum and black plastic and are fitted with a pair of 36 inch plastic insulated wires; they measure 2.2 inches in length and 0.6 inches in diameter, and the aluminum end is thraded to fit the standard site igniter socket. The delay form of this igniter may have a delay time as high as 10 seconds; there are five different delay periods.
