PURPOSE: |
This smoke pot produce a screening smoke for 22 to 25 minutes. |
MARKINGS: |
A broken white band is painted around the pot and also the marking: "NbkL 42". |
DESCRIPTION: |
The pot consists of a field gray painted metal cylinder 6.25 inches in diameter and 18.75 inches tail; the top is fitted with a metal loop handle, two sealed 1 inch vent ho-les, and an igniter socket with a plug which has a threaded hole to receive the standard pull igniter. The pot has a large igniter vent and uses the Smoke Pot Igniter "KL 42" to initiate it. The pot may also be fired electrically, using the "Glühzünder 24" type of elec-tric igniter. |
The pots contain an HC smoke mixture and are packed two to a wooden box. Each pot weighs 44.5 pounds and the total weight of the full packing case is 106.5 pounds. The packing case label is glued to the underside to the hinged lid and is marked NbKL 42. |
There is a "SZ" model of this smoke pot which weighs 34.1 pounds and produce a black smoke instead of a typical gray-white HC smoke. This pot is marked "NbKL 42 SZ" and is very similar in construction to the first model; after a delay of 6-7 seconds, it burns for 15 minutes. The smoke mixture is a cream colored powder consisting of potas-sium chlorate and anthracene. |
