PROJECTOR, SMOKE POT, AFV, MECH

This projector fires screening smoke pots from an AFV and can be loaded from the in-side.

There are no markings of identification value.

This model differs from the electrical model, item I–K–8 in that it can be loaded from the inside of the AFV and can be rotated through a 360 degrees traverse. The projector barrel is mounted on a circular plate which rotates in the ring mount. The drawing on the opposite page shows the firing face of the projector which is flush with the top of the AFV, the projector tube being inside the vehicle. The barrel measures 7.5 inches in length and 3.7 inches in diameter and is inclined at an angle of 60 degrees. The breech block which houses the spring loaded striker is opened by rotating through 90 degrees.

When the projector is not in use, it is closed by a hollow cast plug to keep out foreign materials.
