GRENADE, INCENDIARY, FRANGIBLE |
PURPOSE: |
This grenade consists of a glass bottle of inflammable liquid fitted with an igni-ter. |
| MARKINGS: |
The gummed label on the bottle reads: "Feuergefährlich". |
| DESCRIPTION: |
The bottle is made of dark green colored glass and has an overall height of 11.6 in-ches. On diametrically opposite sides of the bottle are two grooves where the two igni-ters are fastened by means of gummed tape. The igniters may be protected by a card-board container or an aluminum tube. In the latter case the bootle usually is a little shor-ter, measuring 10 inches high. The igniters are lighted by means of a scratcher and match head just before the bottle is thrown. The grenade has no exploder and must be broken by impact with the target. The liquid is a mixture of gasoline and a small amount of creosote. The bottle is selead with a cork that is cemented in place. |
