This mortar fires 15 cm rocket chemical ammunition.

There are no markings of identification value.

This weapon is a 6 barrel rocket launcher mounted on a 2 wheel carriage with a split trail. The unit is composed of 6 smooth bore barrels 3.5 feet long. The in-side of each barrel has three 8 mm guide rails. The barrels are open tubes with a catch at the rear end to hold the shell in place. The weapon is fired electrically from a distance by means of a fire control cable. The barrels are fired singly in the order of 1-4-6-2-3-5 with a mi-nimum of one second between launchings. The sight and elevating mechanism is located on the left-hand side of the barrel group. The maximum range is 8600 yards.

The 21 cm Chemical Rocket Launcher, Type 42 is similar to the 15 cm Type 41 model except that it has only five barrels of 21 cm caliber. The weapon is fired electrically from a distance with a firing order of 1-3-5-2-4.
