BODY CONSTRUCTION: |
Mk V – Forged steel with pointed nose and an open base threaded internally to re-ceive exploder container, which is cemented in position. Base of body threaded extern-ally to receive tail adapter, which is in form of a coned ring with four equispaced slots to re-ceive the spring clips of the tail. |
Earlier Mks – Similar, with slight variations in the tail adapter. |
TAIL CONSTRUCTION |
No. 10 Mk I – Tail cone with a cylindrical strut attached by four fins. Attached to body 4 spring clips. Arming spindle engages fork in tail pistol to arm it. |
No. 1 Mk I – (Used on Mks II & III bombs) No spring clips. |
No 3 Mk I – (Used on Mk IIC, Mk IIIC bombs) Spring clips. |
