VERZOGERUNG WERKE (VW) (DELAY CLOCK) |
The VW is a spring-wound six-day scuttling clock used in the EMS mine. It can be set from six hours to six days by intervals of six hours. Figure 294 |
Operation. A soluble washer is switch C, figure 295, dissolves, allowing a potential to be applied across terminals 1 and 3, which blows fuse F and starts the clock. After the clock runs for approximately 10 minutes, arming switch A closes and the mine is armed. At the end of the preset time, scuttling switch B closes, placing the detonator across the battery to destroy the mine. |
