Supersonic Receivers. The supersonic receivers consist of two nickel magneto stric-tive receivers mounted on top of a small steel float which is released by the mine a short time after reaching the bottom, on laying. One of the receivers is mounted in a cone and has vertical directivity (trichter schwinger); the other receiver is mounted in a ring around the base of the cone receiver, and has horizonatl directivity (ring schwinger). Figure 222 shows the directional charasteristics of the two receivers: A, vertical receiver B, horizontal receiver.
