The M 101 unit* (Allied designation, M Mk VI, M Mk VIII) was the first of the Luftwaf-fe mine unit series. It is a uni-polar unit, and it operates on the principle of magnetic bal-ance for a vertical component. Work on this unit began in the winter of 1939, and it was completed and ready for operational use in the fall of 1940. It was used operationally as a magnetic unit, and in combination with acoustic and pressure components in the BM 1000 I/II mine cases.
