German sweep obstructors, laid in and around moored mine fields, are designed to cut sweep cables and prevent or hinder sweeping of the mine field. They may contain explo-sives or merely support mechanical cutters on their mooring cables. The various types of conical floats may be indistinguishable when found afloat. |
