| PURPOSE: |

The purpose of this set is to give training in the odors of chemical warfare. |
| MARKINGS: |

The cover of the kits is marked in white as follows: "Riechprobenkasten". A paper label glued to the inside of the cover is similarly marked. |
| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The set is contained in a green painted wooden box measuring 3.8 x 6.5 x 11.4 in-ches. The box is fitted with a leather carrying strap, a lock and key and a hinged cover. The box contains six black plastic cylinder which hold the sample vials of agent. The top and side of each plastic cylinder is numbered and the bottom gives the name of German agent corresponding to the number. The following is a table of the numbers and markings (tube #6 is empty): |

The black cylinders measure 5.8 inches long and have a maximum diameter of 1.4 in-ches. The top screws off, exposing the ground glass stopper of the vial which can be re-moved by unscrewing the bottom of the plastic cylinder. The vial contains a brown ab-sorbent solid which retains the chemical agents. |

The set also contains a 4 ounce bottle of carbon tetrachloride (marked Schutzlösung) and 2 paper packages of absorbent cotton. This liquid and cotton are meant for the cleansing of the skin in case of contamination. |
