VW Filter 1,2

This item serves as a preliminary filter on the collective protective installation (1.2) removing the larger dust particles and foreign materials from the air drawn into the sys-tem, thereby increasing the life of the canisters.

The side containing the outlet elbow has the marking VW 1,2.

The filter fits slightly to one side and above the smoke canister, the connection to the canister being made by a hose with screw connections. The large intake elbow has a flange which is bolted to the intake circulating pipes.

The main parts of the prefilter are:

1. The casing.

2. The shut-off valve.

3. The primary filter cartridge.

4. The secondary filter frame with perforated plates and 2 pads.

The shut-off valve is in the large intake elbow, the handle being a single lever type on the outside of the elbow. The side of the casing containing the outlet opening is faste-ned on by means of two hand tightening nuts, one on each side.

The primary filter cartridge fits in the opening of the case where the intake elbow is attached; it is wedded with oil before the VM-Filter is used. The secondary filter is loca-ted just over the primary and consists of a "V" shaped frame with perforated plates on the inside, holding the cotton padding against the frame. The air is forced from the out-side to the inside of the "V" and then it passes to the canisters.
