VW Filter 1,2 |
| PURPOSE: |
This item serves as a preliminary filter on the collective protective installation (1.2) removing the larger dust particles and foreign materials from the air drawn into the sys-tem, thereby increasing the life of the canisters. |
| MARKINGS: |
The side containing the outlet elbow has the marking VW 1,2. |
| DESCRIPTION: |
The filter fits slightly to one side and above the smoke canister, the connection to the canister being made by a hose with screw connections. The large intake elbow has a flange which is bolted to the intake circulating pipes. |
The main parts of the prefilter are: |
1. The casing. |
2. The shut-off valve. |
3. The primary filter cartridge. |
4. The secondary filter frame with perforated plates and 2 pads. |
The shut-off valve is in the large intake elbow, the handle being a single lever type on the outside of the elbow. The side of the casing containing the outlet opening is faste-ned on by means of two hand tightening nuts, one on each side. |
The primary filter cartridge fits in the opening of the case where the intake elbow is attached; it is wedded with oil before the VM-Filter is used. The secondary filter is loca-ted just over the primary and consists of a "V" shaped frame with perforated plates on the inside, holding the cotton padding against the frame. The air is forced from the out-side to the inside of the "V" and then it passes to the canisters. |
