The wax is used to protect the inner ear during a gas attack in the event that the ear drum is broken.

The top of the can is marked in black: "Ohrverschluss für Trommelfellverletzte".

The container is a flat metal can with a hinged, yellow painted cover; the bottom is lacquered. The can measures 1.1 x 2.6 x 0.4 inches. The directions for use of the con-tents are printed on the inside of the cover. The contens consists of six slabs of a yellow wax, each slab of a yellow way, each slab having a piece of paper stuck to its top and bottom and a stick intended for removing the paper from the wax.
