This mouthpiece and noseclip are used as an emergency replacement for a gas mask during conditions of active chemical warfare when the mouth-piece is fitted at all times to the spare canister.

There are no markings of identification value.

The mouthpiece consists of a black rubber mould, the end fitting into the mouth hav-ing a rubber divider down its center to prevent it from being closed by pressure of the mouth and the other end being internally threaded to fit the standard canister threaded opening. The overall length of the mouth-piece is 2 inches. Two rubber loops on the mouthpiece serve as attachments for the three foot carrying tape which fits loosely around the neck when the apparatus is being used. A third loop on the mouthpiece ser-ves as a point of attachment for the nose-clip which is fastened by means of a 6.5 inch string.

The nose-clip consists of a pair of hinged metal prongs, held in the closed position by means of a coiled metal spring at the hinge. The two ends of the prongs that fasten over the nostrils are fitted with transparent plastic color-less discs which prevent the metal from coming in contact with the skin. The overall length of the nose-clip is 2.4 inches.
