FB 41

The purpose of this canister is to remove chemical warfare agents from the atmos-phere, when used in conjunction with a connecting hose and face-piece

This group of canisters includes all those marked "FB 41". Additional goverment and manufacturers' markings are present.

The canister are box-type in shape and constructed of green lacquered ribbed tin plate. The overall dimensions of the cross section are 2.6 x 4.8 inches, and the height is 8.4 inches. When new, the rectangular inlet orifice in the base is sealed with a strip of adhesive, while the outlet at the neck is closed with a metal screw cap. A rubber disc in-let valve is located in the neck of the canister.

The sectionalized view shows the three layers of filling found in this type of canister. The top two layer consists of extruded charcoal, and the bottom layer consists of plea-ted paper.
