The purpose of this facepiece is to give the civilian respiratory and facial protection against chemical agents; it is used in conjunction with a VM canister.

There are no identification markings present except for the size number printed in black between the eyepiece on the outside of the facepiece.

This facepiece is the Latest civilian model found. It is made of gray-green rubberied fabric, the rubber being only on the interior. The internally threaded connecting piece for the canister is constructed of light metal alloy, painted green, and is secured to the facepiece by means of a metal band which tightens the fabric around it. The rubber disc inlet valve is fastened to the inside of the connecting piece. The eyepiece are round, 2.3 inches in diameter, and made of plastic. The eyepiece retaining rings on the inside have a position for the inertion of anti-dim discs. The face fitting band and the chin strap are both made of fabric and help to make a more satisfactory fit on the face. The head-har-ness consists of a rubber nucleus which is attached to the facepiece at seven points by means adjustable cloth straps. The facepiece comes in six sizes, numbered from one to six, the number being printed on the outside of the mask between the eyepiece.
