This pistol is used to fire the 27 mm signal cartridges.

There are no markings of identification value.

This pistol exists in 2 types, a lightweight model weighing 1 pound 9 ounces and the heavier model, weighing 2 pounds 2 ounces. The lightweight pistol is a breach loading signal pistol of the conventional style with a smooth bore, 6 inches long. The overall length of the pistol is 9.3 inches. It breaks at the base of the barrel for loading purposes.

The heavy model does not have the conventional hammer. Instead it has a cylinder firing pin which protrudes at the rear of the pistol when cocked. As the pistol "breaks", the firing pin is automatically cocked. The safety catch is on the left side at the rear.
