PURPOSE: |
These cartridge are used in the "41 P" and Pz.Jg. 38 flamethrowers to ignite the fuel. |
MARKINGS: |
The wooden case holding 30 boxes of cartridges and also the small boxes themselve are marked: "Zündpatronen für Patr. Strahlrohr". |
DESCRIPTION: |
The small cardboard boxes hold 25 cartridges, each being 0.87 inches long and 0.40 inches in diameter. The box measures 2,2 x 1 x 2,25 inches. The cartridge contains a mixture of magnesium metal and barium oxide, which, when fired, burns for 4 seconds with a flame 3 inches long. |
The above-mentioned cardboard boxes are packed 6 to larger size waxed cardboard box which is in turn packed in the wooden carrying case. The drawing on the opposite page shows the smallest box, the size containing 25 cartridges. |
