PURPOSE: |

This is a hand smoke grenade with a short burning tube. |

The grenade is marked with a broken white band and the lettering "Nb Eihgr. 42". |
| DESCRIPTION: |
|
The grenade is egg shaped and made of gray painted sheet metal. The length is 4.2 inches and the maximum diameter, 2 inches. One end has a metal loop welded on and the other end has a central hole threaded to take a pull igniter. Just below the igniter soc-ket, on the sides, are three vent holes for the escape of the smoke. The filling is of the HC type and has a burning time of 75 seconds. The starter cylinder has a delay of 7 se-conds. |
