The purpose of this weapon is to fire the 8 cm mortar smoke ammunition. |

| DESCRIPTION: |
|
This model is a "Stokes" type, smooth-bore, muzzle loading weapon for high angle fire. It has only one barrel and fires the streamlined mortar shell with tail fins; the projectile is non-rotating in flight. This mortar is actually an 8.1 cm mortar, although the Germans call it 8 cm. The external diameter of the barrel is 4.14 inches; the maximum range is 3000 yards. |
