DESCRIPTION |
The fuze body holds a striker (1), creep spring (2), safety pin (3) and explosive compo-nents. |
The striker is housed in the body and is held in place by a hold-in pin (4) which engages a slot in the top of the striker. The striker (1) is held off the detonator (5) by the creep spring (2) and by a safety pin (3) to which a length of tape (6) is attached. This tape is wound around the fuze head. The C.E. detonator (7) is lodged in a sleeve below the primer and is surrounded by the booster. |
OPERATION |
When the bomb is dropped the safety tape (6) unwinds and withdrawn the safety pin (3), thus leaving the striker (1) supported only by the creep spring (2). On impact, inertia carries the striker (1) forward onto the detonator (5) and initiates the explosive of the bomb. |
