One type of this 4.7 cm fixed Q.F. round is described in Pamphlet No. 4, pages 16 and 17. Details are now available of another type of this round, which is of Czech origin.

Markings and Weight

The shell is known both wholly unpainted, or in the standard German olive green shade. These markings are indicated on Fig. 12. The total weight is 6 lb. approximately.

Shell

The shell is forged steel the being formed by the "bottling" process. The cavity is unma-chined except for an internal thread provided at the nose to receive the fuze. The driv-ing band is wholly of copper, and no base plate is fitted. The total weight of the filled and fuzed shell is 3 lb. 5 oz.

Bursting Charge

The bursting charge consists of 0.39 lb. of cast T.N.T. having a central exploder cavity.

Exploder

The exploder consists of 4 pellets of pressed T.N.T. of total weight 8 drs. fitting into the cavity of the filling.

Fuze
The fuze is of the type described in Pamphlet No. 4, page 17.
Cartridge Case

The cartridge case is similar in all respect to that described in connection with the 4.7 cm A.P.C. shell in this pamphlet.

Propellant

The propellant is similar in constitution to that described in connection with the 4.7 cm A.P.C. shell in this pamphlet but difference in charge weight and ballistic size are as fol-lows:–
