DESCRIPTION: |
This pistol is a simple inertia type striker resting on a creep spring. The pistol body is hexagonal, and in each side approximately ½" from the top is a hole for the insertion of a safety pin. The inside of the body is round, and it accomodates a square striker which is rounded at the top to receive the safety clip. The creep spring is attached to the firing pin. The lower end of the pistol body is threaded to go into the smoke float. |
OPERATION: |
When the float is placed in the dropping gear the safety pin is removed. Upon re-lease the safety clip is pulled, and the striker is left riding on its creep spring. On im-pact the spring is overcome, and the firing pin hits the percussion cap which fires the ignition charge. |
REMARKS: |
This pistol is replacing the No. 844 fuze in this smoke float. |
