Construction of body: The body consists of a drawn-steel cup to which is welded a cast-steel nose.

Construction of tail: Four tail fins are spot welded to the base of the body. They are supported by a single set of box-type struts.

Remarks: A distingushing feature of these bombs is the construction which permits fit-ting the nose of one bomb into the tail of another. This union of the nose and tail serves two purposes: (1) It prevents the fuze vanes from rotating while in the cluster; (2) It decreases the length of the space nee- ded to contain the fuzed bombs in cluster con-tainers.
