16. General

a. All antipersonnel mines dipend for initiation upon some action of the enemy. In gene-ral, as enemy personnel will not have the restrictions of vision that are imposed upon the driver of an armored vehicle, it is important that full advantage be taken of every oppor-tunity for oncealment. Therefore, antipersonnel mines and firing mechnisms used there-with will receive special attention to the maintenance of the neutral color and finish.

b. In addition to standardized antipersonnel mines, this section also describes other items of demolition material from which antitank or antipersonnel mines may be improvi-sed. Firing mechanisms are described in section V.
