The Tempelhof 41 mine detector (fig. 161) is a heterodyne type. It has a
spade-shaped plastic search head. At the rear of the search head an oscillator is housed in a cylindrical container. A four-piece extension
handle is hinged to the search head at the base of this cylinder. The
control box is unusual in that it is situated on the search-head cable
bet-ween the extension handle and the pack case. The detector unit is
housed in a sheet-metal pack case which is smaller than the standard
German pack case (par. 126). As is the case with most of the heterodyne
German detectors, the Tempelhof 41 has good senisitivity for large
metallic objects but poor sensitivity for small metallic objects.
