Various devices of this type, commonly called "booby traps", have been used by the Germans to preserve the security of their mine assemblies. They are ordinarily fitted as case accessories, designed to prevent access to the interior of the case at the most ob-vious points of enty such as cover plates and tail doors. However, as shown below, they may be incorporated as unit accessories or as integral parts of the unit.
