119. Ground Pyrotechnics are designed to give warning of enemy marauders or infiltrat-ing hostile troops, to illuminate the ground in front of entrenched or advancing troops, and for communication by signaling. Pyrotechnic items used in ground operations include tripwire flares, parachute flares, pyrotechnic grenades, and a variety of ground signals.
