This kit supplies first aid equipment for gas casualties and, in addition, identification tags any type of casualty.

The cover of the container is marked in white letters: "Werkluftschutz-Satz-Verband-kasten". The list of contents pasted on the inside of the cover has the same marking.

The container is gray painted metal box 9.8 x 5.1 x 4.7 inches. The cover is attached by two hinges and is fastened shut by two metal loops; provisions are made to lock the loops in position with cotter pins. The contents of the kit are as follows:

1. Sodium Bicarbonate Powder - 2 bottles (B) - for washing phosphorus burns.

2. Chloramine Powder - 3 bottles - for washing skin contaminated with blister gases.

3. White Vaseline - 1 jar (C) - for smearing on skin after use of chloramine powder.

4. Sodium Bicarbonate Tablets - 1 bottle (E) - for washing lacrimating eyes.

5. Boric Acid Tablets - 1 tube (I) - for washing lacrimating eyes.

6. Alkaline Eye Salve - 2 jars (1 missing) - for treatment of eyes after use of the sodi-um bicarbonate solution when the eyes have been exposed to a very strong lacrimator or blister gas.

7. Potassium Permanganate Crystals - 1 tube (G) - for gargling after irritation of the throat by gases.

8. Applicator - one (F) - for application of eye salve.

9. Ammonium Chloride Solution - 1 bottle (A) - for respiratory stimulation of a faint casualty.

10. Hexamethylenetetramine - 1 tube (H) - for emergency gas defense; to be used to moisten a cloth to be held over face.

11. Measuring cup - one (125 ccm) - for preparation of sodium bicarbonate solutions (not in drawing).

12. Casualty Cards - 1 book - for designating the type of casualty and the treatment needed.

The list of contents pasted on the inside of the cover also contains the instructions for the use of each item.
