This item is used as individual protection against vesicants and toxic smokes.

The cover of the tin container may be marked "Tupfer für Hautentgiftung" or "Tupfer für Hautentgiftung, Riechmittel (Brechampullen)". Directions for use are printed on the in-side of the lid.

The complete unit consists of five inhalent ampoules and six swabs which are contai-ned in a small metal box. The metal container is made of flat sheet metal with rounded corners. The lid, which is hinged to the bottom of the box, is painted green, while the underside has a lacquer finish. The containers measure 0.4 x 1.8 x 2.9 inches.

The six absorbent swabs (1) consist of a layer of white viscose fibers rolled up on a strip of thin white crepe paper to form a cylinder 1.25 inches long and 0.5 inches in dia-meter.

The ampoules (2) are made of colorless clear tubing covered with a braided sheath of white rayon. They are 0.2 inches in diameter and 2 inches long. The filling consists of a colorless liquid, a mixture of ammonia, chloroform, alcohol and ether.
